Leadership
Early in 1991 Roy and Christina felt like Abram and Sarai in Genesis chapter 12, “Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.” (Ge 12:1 NKJV). While still living in Brockville, Ontario, they began attending services one hour away at New Testament Church in Massena, New York. After commuting for about a year, God began to stir their hearts about believing Him for relocation into the United States, to move to Massena, New York and become a part of what God was doing there. A strong confirmation came in May 1991 while Roy was attending a meeting in Montreal. Leon Walters gave him a word stating, “ Father…right now that You would give him all the resource so that he knows, that he knows, that he knows, that the mission that you have sent him on is like the mission when you sent the disciples on to go to the other side and cross the waters…and You sent our brother out and he’s going to make it to the other side.” Standing in faith and on His Word, Roy and Christina saw God sovereignly open a door into the United States and relocated to Massena, New York.
As God knit their hearts into that great Body, Roy took on the responsibility of overseeing New Testament Christian Academy for over ten years. Those years saw God fulfill a word that came to Roy and Chris in October of 1991 during a presbytery meeting at NTC: “I have brought you to a place where you will enjoy instruction…to awaken a new understanding in both of you concerning My House and the principles that rule the House of the Lord…and both of you shall be learned people of the ways of the Lord…You will learn the anointing as you sit under great men of God…there are a people who await, a people I have chosen.
In the time and in the season when the Word of the Lord comes upon the House, My spirit will blow you into that place…you will prepare to go, but you won’t go alone. Even a people that will have a burden for the land…some of them have not arrived yet, but they will come. They shall be sent with you to break the ground and to start a work says the Lord.” Roy and Chris and their boys Nathanael, Andrew, Ethan, Aaron and Seth, have had the awesome privilege of living in the unfolding of God’s word over their lives. They have had the opportunity to sit under great men of God who have shaped them and poured into their lives. They have a special debt of love to Pastor Don and Mary Curry who have walked with them, loved them, stood with them and fathered them. Roy and Chris are proud to have been raised as a son and daughter of the House, under such incredible and capable leaders. They served as deacons and then in 1995 as elders to New Testament Church in Massena.
In 2002, a word given eleven years earlier became a living reality as people from Cornwall and region began coming to NTC for services. It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to the leadership team of NTC to begin the plans to send out and watch the wind of God establish a work in Cornwall. In March of 2003, about 50 people who had a burden for the land were sent to break the ground and start the work! God has been faithful to perform His word and a great work is being raised up for His Namesake.
